Website and application maintenance in Palma
Software that is live needs looking after: security kept current, backups that genuinely restore, and someone who answers when something breaks.
In short
- Software maintenance: websites and applications, not hardware or networks
- Security updates, verified backups and monitoring
- Response within 24-48 working hours
- Optional and with no lock-in: the code is yours and you can take it
What this is and what it is not
A clarification first, because 'IT maintenance' is used for two very different things. This is software maintenance: the website or application that is published and in use. It is not device support, or printers, or networks, or office computers; that is not my speciality and I would rather say so than take the job.
A project does not end the day it goes live: that is the day it starts getting real users. From then on security patches appear that need applying, dependencies fall behind, external services change their terms, and use cases nobody anticipated turn up.
The expensive part is not the maintenance: it is the repair when something has gone two years untouched. An un-updated website is the most common open door there is, and a backup that has never been test-restored is not a backup, it is a folder.
What it includes
What it takes for something that is live to keep working and to keep growing.
- Security kept current
- Vulnerability tracking and updates to dependencies and the server whenever patches are released.
- Verified backups
- Automatic backups and, crucially, periodic restore tests so you know they are worth something.
- Monitoring
- An alert if the site goes down, slows to a crawl, or the certificate or domain is about to expire.
- Incidents
- When something breaks, I look at it. Response within 24-48 working hours and a direct line, no ticket queue.
- Periodic review
- Performance, search visibility and accessibility reviewed regularly, with a report in plain language.
- Continuous improvements
- A block of hours for small changes and new features without opening a new quote each time.
How it starts
Including when the website or application is not one I built.
Initial review
What is running, in what state, what risks it carries right now, and what gets fixed first.
Bring it up to date
Pending updates, backups running and monitoring installed. Done once, properly.
Monthly routine
Patches, checks and watching, without you having to remember any of it.
Review and improve
Every so often, a read on how it is doing and a proposal of what is worth touching.
Price and terms
Maintenance is optional and is not a condition of working with me. You can take the project and run it with your own team — the code is yours and it is documented — or leave it with me.
If you do take it on, you know in advance what it covers, how many improvement hours are included, and how quickly I respond. No lock-in: if one month you decide you no longer need it, it closes and every access credential is handed over.
Frequently asked questions about custom web and app developmentQuestions about this service
Do you maintain sites you did not build?
Yes, after an initial review. If I find something that cannot be supported safely I will say so plainly, with the options and what each one costs, before taking on the maintenance.
Does this include fixing computers or the office network?
No. That is systems support and it is not my field. I look after the software that is published: the site, the application, the server it lives on and the services it uses.
What if the site goes down on a Saturday?
Monitoring raises the alarm on its own, without waiting for you to notice. The response commitment is during working hours, but a complete outage does not sit waiting until Monday.
